- First, you need to download and install the software. Once you have installed the software, you will get a message like the one shown in below image
- Now, simply copy the URL of the live streaming video on Youtube that you want to download.
- For e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_adyKqfKHrE is the URL of live streaming video that we want to download
- Open Command Prompt as administrator and Paste the live streaming URL in between the command code as shown
The command is: – streamlink best -o “desktop/1.mp4”
Paste the URL between the command code like as shown below
streamlink https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_adyKqfKHrE best -o “desktop/1.mp4”
And then Press Enter
The video will then start to download in the best streaming quality (as provided by the live streamer on Youtube). Check below image
The video will then download until you close the Command Line Prompt. You can, however, close the browser and the video will continue to download in the CMD

streamlink https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_adyKqfKHrE best -o “desktop/1.mp4”
In the above code
Streamlink is the name of the software
Then we have the URL on Youtube where live streaming is going on
The command code “best” extracts the highest resolution that the video is being streamed at YouTube
-o refers to as output
“desktop/1.mp4” is the destination where we want to save the video
Note : – There is only one space between each syntax of the above code.

Disadvantages
Sometimes, the video downloading stops on its own but that is very rare, like once in 20 downloading sessions. This happens because either there is a bug in the software or the URL of live streaming has been changed by the streamer.

OK, I am a real dummie about this stuff. I downloaded the program, it finds what i want to download, a live youtube video, and then it says no such path or directory. I first put in what you had, which said desktop/1.mp4. it didnt like that on my windows 10 desktop computer. it doesnt like anything else i have tried to put in because i dont know what to put there. can you give an idea?

Is it possible to download part that already have been streamed in the live session? Like a live camera on youtube running 24/7 but keeps 12h roll back, I would like to just download part of the streaming. Is that possible?
When you start the downloading process, it will start to record the video only from that particular instant. For e.g. if the live session has already surpassed 20 minutes, and then if you start the download process, the recording will be done only from the 20 minutes onwards, not from before.
Once the live video has been completed, the uploader usually keeps it there on Youtube for the audience to view it. For such videos, you can use the IDM tool to download videos from Youtube.

i know this is for youtube URLs but assumed it could work for any stream that has live video?
“No plugin can handle” :- If you are getting this error, then it means that the developer has not yet added that site for downloading.
There is a list on Github for this software that shows which sites are supported. If some site is a paid one, then it will obviously
not work
